Effortless Memory Keeping With Stickers

Effortless Memory Keeping With Stickers

Posted by Anna Williams on

Memory keeping with stickers is a fun and creative way to document each and every aspect of your life - it's not just about keeping track of appointments and that never-ending to-do list! You should see your planner as a memory book that can be reviewed time and time again, so you never forget the little details that make your life unique.

In this post, I'll introduce the basics of sticker planning and how to choose the perfect stickers to capture your memories!

The Basics of Planning with Stickers

Sticker planning involves the use of various stickers to personalise your planner spreads. It's a wonderful way to highlight particularly memorable events from your week.

To get started, you'll need a planner that suits your style and needs. Next, gather a selection of stickers that appeal to you - these could range from colourful themed sticker kits to specific icons representing different aspects of your life. When thinking about what stickers will work for you, try and remember that the aim of memory planning is to create a planner that serves as a reflective tool. If you're mainly going to mark events from your personal life, you maybe don't need the 10 sheets of "work" stickers you've just put in your cart!

Choosing Your Stickers

When it comes to picking stickers, it's important to consider both their aesthetic and functional aspects. Think about the types of memories and events you want to record. Do you want to commemorate family milestones, track personal achievements, or simply add a touch of personality to your everyday tasks? These are just as important to celebrate as the big things, and there's no right or wrong answer here!

Here’s a simple guide to help you choose stickers for your planner:

Sticker Type Purpose Example
Transparent icons Functional - to mark appointments and reminders Small icons like stars, hearts, cars and paperclips
Sticker kits Combination of decorative and functional - to highlight important events and occasions Colour co-ordinated sets including full boxes, labels, washi strips and more
Decorative stickers Aesthetic - to add personality to your plans with less structure - think scrapbooking! Illustrations, florals, torn pages, abstract shapes for layering

You should also consider your planner’s layout and size when choosing stickers to ensure they fit perfectly within your spreads!

Decorative journalling sticker kits

Whether you prefer minimalist designs that serve a specific purpose, or vibrant and decorative sticker kits, the key is to pick stickers that resonate with you. It can be really easy to go "all in" (we all do this, especially beginner planners!) and end up over-buying, so try to figure out what style will suit your needs.

I'll cover this in a later blog post, but as you continue on your sticker planning journey - don't forget to organise your collection for easy access. Sticker albums are a fantastic way to protect your stickers while they're waiting for their time to shine in your planner!

Marking Milestones

I like to think of my memory planner as a scrapbook of my life, celebrating milestones big and small. With the help of themed stickers, you can commemorate significant events such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and more. Some more uncommon kit themes I've made include Formula 1, pet birthdays, the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and a Renaissance fair!

Each milestone can be marked with a special sticker or kit that captures the vibes of the occasion, so when you flick through the pages you're looking through a storybook of your life. Gone are the days where a planner is merely just a tool for scheduling!

De-stressing with Stickers

Using stickers in your planning routine isn't just about aesthetics - it's a relaxing creative hobby that can help you unwind after a long day. The act of choosing and placing stickers is relaxing in itself, but doing so also allows you to focus on the present moment while offering a chance to reflect on your day or week. It's so easy to take things for granted, but memory planning encourages you to pause and really appreciate your achievements and personal growth.

Whether you opt for elaborate or minimalist sticker planning, the key is to make it personal and meaningful to you. Embrace the benefits that memory keeping has to offer and start decorating your planner with stickers! For more info on getting started with planning, check out my beginner's guide here.
